Shattered – A Guide to Recovering from Great Loss

‘Shattered’ is a self-help book that provides insight and guidance on recovering from great loss. The aim of ‘Shattered’ is to help the reader return to a state of normality following a great loss. This book covers five areas of loss: bereavement, financial loss, relationship breakdown, job loss and failure.

The pain and shock that comes with a great loss destroys our world as we know it. When great loss enters our world, nothing is the same – especially our sense of self. Drawing upon the author’s own life experiences, ‘Shattered’ examines the mental, physical and emotional facets within one’s self. At the time of a great loss, these three facets of ourselves shatter into a million pieces. ‘Shattered’ aims to provide the support, guidance and focus that will assist the reader in piecing back together their mental, physical and emotional facets at such terrible times.

The mental, emotional and physical facets within us are affected differently by the impact of a great loss. Covering each area of loss, ‘Shattered’ focuses on each facet in turn, highlighting typical emotional, mental or physical symptoms and reactions one might feel. In taking time to examine each facet and their symptoms, the reader will be able to identify their own mental, emotional and physical state.

‘Shattered’ goes on to provide the remedial steps for recovery of the mental, emotional and physical facets of one’s self. Over time, and with guidance, the reader will be able to take steps toward a full recovery; restoring health, strength and balance, and, hopefully, peace.
